I love to help clients feel as confident as possible when they show up for pictures. It’s a good idea to start planning this part as early as possible. It’s always best to start by shopping your closet before running out for a new wardrobe. I recommend sticking with more neutral colors that compliment (not match) your family members. I find soft greys, oatmeal, blush, chambray or light greens are a great place to start. I will send over my Style Guide with a ton of inspiration and ideas on how to plan for everyone in your family. I’m always happy to provide more specific input based on pictures of outfits you send my way too!
As a mom, I know these moments are bound to happen…usually at the worst of times! With several years of both parenting and photography kids under my belt, I truly believe the energy you put out is the energy you get back. I know it can feel embarrassing and stressful, but it’s so important to try to stay calm during these tough times with kids. It’s helpful to remember these are little people with very real emotions and they need our support to get through it. And we will get through it! I never force kids to be happy just because I’m the lady with a camera. That is just not the vibe I want to create during our session. I will often just allow a child to take a break with another parent/adult who is there and regroup when they are ready. I offer more suggestions in the “Session Prep Check List” I provide before our session
I have some favorite locations I have scouted out. During our planning process we will discuss the backdrop you prefer – Open park/prairie, forest, lake, urban or even your own home.
A retainer fee of $100 is due at the time of your booking. The balance of the collection you select is due 3 days before your session.
I typically wait until the evening before a morning session or mid-day for an evening session to reschedule due to rain. If it is raining or there is a high % chance for rain, we will reschedule for a date that works for both of us.
Ehhhh….this is a tough one. So here’s the deal – before I take a single photo, I will take a close look at everyone to make sure we can avoid this. For the guys, I usually need to quickly remind them to remove wallets, phones, and keys out of their pockets. For ladies, it’s usually a watch or hair tie you may forget to take off your wrist. For the kids, I’ll have some extra wipes to quickly wipe off noses and mouths. Then for everyone, a little hair spray/ comb to keep those pesky fly-aways at bay. As we are taking photos, it’s also my job to make sure you look your best and capture you at all the right angles in the best light etc. However, once I am editing your photos, I do not do any “body shaping” type of edits in photoshop.
